Regal Innovations was awarded the Design and Construct tender by the City of Sydney to complete the concept design initially developed by McGregor Coxall. Taking the concept design Regal Innovations completed a detailed approach with the council and the initial design team to ensure that we understood the design intent and key items that delivered this from day one. By holding a strong respect for the design intent, Regal could work through the design and the client’s requirements to deliver a truly one-of-a-kind quality project.
The Green Square Drying Green Park’s 6,400 square metres serve to extend the landscape character of Zetland Avenue and form a place of respite against the contrast of the paved, formal, and multi-functional urban environments of the library and plaza. The Origami Green concept proposal folds the topography to form a variety of spatial experiences as well as maximising useable lawn areas, sun exposure and creating a sense of privacy and containment. Buffering of noise and winds from the surroundings is also improved. Within the park, a tilted lawn transitions to a large open lawn with sheltered BBQ and dining area. A tiered arrangement of wetlands treat and harvest storm water along Zetland Avenue and Portman Street.
